The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) seeks to increase by 28% the amount of electricity produced by alternative sources over the next five years.

Today, the country uses only 2% of the energy potential which comes from natural resources such as water, wind, volcanic gases and gases from the combustion of waste or biomass (27,600 megawatts).
