Households will pay between 9% and 14% more in electricity rates from April

High setting is for subscribers Coopelesca, CNFL and Coopesantos

Industrialists claim that use diesel instead of bunker by ICE, increased costs

If you think electric service rates are very high, be prepared for further rise.

Next month households will pay between 9% and 14% additional light.

This increase is intended to cover expenditure on fuel for power generation in the last quarter, which was almost ¢ 4,000 million higher than estimated by the Regulatory Authority of Public Services (Aresep).

This increase is due to an increased need for generating electricity with diesel and bunker down for water-based production, and rising fuel prices.

This causes the prices to be adjusted by up to 4% higher than projected. This mechanism is called variable cost adjustment for fuel (CVC), it only considers the cost of hydrocarbons to produce electricity.

For example, for the second quarter to ICE had authorized an increase of 8% for residences, but would be 9%.

The adjustment will affect the 1.4 million subscribers across the country, including homes, businesses, industries and institutions.

Residential side who will bear the brunt Coopelesca customers in San Carlos; Coopesantos in the Los Santos, and the National Power and Light (CNFL), in the center of the country. Among all users 580,600 cover.

For example, a household with a consumption of 250 kilowatt hours per month (kWh) and Coopelesca client must pay ¢ 3,450 more. His bill would increase from ¢ 20,400 to ¢ 23,850, not including the charge for street lighting and contribution to firefighters.

A family with the same consumption but it is served by the CNFL, would pay ¢ 18,950 to ¢ 21,100. That is, the household would have to adjust your budget to pay additional ¢ 2150.

Such increases will join up between 3% and 13% applied in January this year for all distribution companies.

Regarding this increase to offset fuel costs, the Aresep closed yesterday reported that the consultation period. Coming soon will be approved and will come into effect after Easter. Being an automatic adjustment, the process is fast.
