Representatives of indigenous organizations Térraba ICE press to desist from Diquís build the hydroelectric plant in the south of the country.

According to a press release issued yesterday by members of the Development Association of Indian Territory Térraba (ADI), the organization agreed to give him eight days to leave ICE indigenous lands to develop the plant employed.

Elides Rivera, representative of the organization, said the Institute usurped the land without consulting the communities.

He said the 7,600 hectares that the Institute intends to flood for the dam, 10% are indigenous territories.

Fifteen giant waved their skinny, but strong arms to the rhythm of wind gusts of 10 meters per second to produce electricity in the area of Los Santos.

The strength of their movement would generate electric power required for 32% of the 120 communities served by the Rural Electrification Cooperative (Coopesanta).

How does the ICE that other companies move in generating alternative sources? Is it a loss of business?

We've been talking with them for renewable energy projects, wind projects and small hydropower projects. We see very positive because the pressure is relieved, can we focus on large projects, those that require many resources, and to help utilities get stronger national consolidated its generation.

Garbage, heat and wind power will become, according to plan for the next five years for electrification cooperatives and Coopeguanacaste Coopelesca.

Both companies involved in electricity distribution are accelerating their investments in the production of electricity with clean, renewable sources.

Although the strength of their plans is hydroelectric generation, will gamble on non-traditional sources in the country such as biomass, heat and wind.
